Real Betis interested in Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinezby Carlos Volcano9 months agoSend to a friendShare the loveReal Betis are interested in Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez.Marca says Martinez has been placed on Real Betis’ radar for a potential January move. The Andalusians have made contact with the Nerazzurri to try to sign the player on loan with a purchase option.Martinez arrived in Italy from Racing Club last summer, for a fee of €25m and has since participated in 16 matches and has scored five goals. The Argentine is seen by Luciano Spalletti as the backup to Mauro Icardi and a move out of the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza seems complicated. Proposed Liverpool kit deal with Nike worth less than current sponsors New Balanceby Ian Ferris25 days agoSend to a friendShare the loveLiverpool’s proposed new kit deal with US sportswear giant Nike is only worth a guaranteed UK£30 million (US$37 million) per year, according to High Court papers seen by the Times, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/.The figure is in stark contrast to the previously reported UK£70 million (US$86 million) per year figure for the Nike deal. Instead, this reported base figure is less than Liverpool’s existing UK£45 million (US$55 million) annual deal with New Balance, which is taking the club to court claiming a contract clause means it can match Nike’s terms. It is also less than the minimum UK£50 million (US$61 million) per year deals Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have with Nike, as well as the UK£71 million per year agreement the brand struck with French champions PSG in June. However, Liverpool apparently believe Nike can deliver far greater total revenue for the club than has been generated by their deal with New Balance. This is reflected by a commitment from Nike in the proposed deal to pay the club a 20 per cent royalty on net sales of Liverpool products. It would also promote the club through other influential athletes, such as Serena Williams and LeBron James, and popular musicians associated with the company, including rapper Drake. In addition, the report says Nike will distribute a new kit through ‘6,000 global doors’, compared to New Balance’s 3,000.In response, New Balance believes it can meet demand for Liverpool kit, having delivered tow of the biggest selling home kits for fans. A three-day trial to settle the legal dispute has been listed from 18th October. TagsPremiership NewsAbout the authorIan FerrisShare the loveHave your say

Instagram/SteeleOver the past few weeks, we’ve all been seeing a lot more of ESPN bureau reporter Michele Steele. Why? Because she’s been given the honor of filling in for Chris McKendry with co-host Jay Crawford during the 11:00 AM ET SportsCenter show. Steele, who is usually based in Boston to cover the Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics, has done a fantastic job in her new role, leading many to wonder if she’ll ever be given the full-time gig, like her coworker Cari Champion.Where is she from? How did she get her career started? Is she single? Diego Simeone has not given up hope of Atletico Madrid catching Barcelona in the title race despite suffering their second La Liga defeat of the season at Real Betis. After Barca came from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw with Valencia on Saturday, Atletico had the chance to close the gap to three points with victory in Seville. However, they were unable to leave the Benito Villamarin with anything after Sergio Canales converted a second-half penalty to seal a 1-0 home win. The loss ends an 18-unbeaten run by the side from the Spanish capital and leaves Atletico six adrift of Barca with 16 games remaining. Yet, head coach Simeone is confident his side can still catch the leaders.”I’m always optimistic, I’m grateful that Barca drew and are not too far away,” he said.”Barca stays within a good range so we are going to continue to work.” | PHOTO GALLERYThe snaps of the #RealBetisAtleti match. https://t.co/BDB1GDPWpp#AúpaAtleti pic.twitter.com/nXbuaAm8r0— Atlético de Madrid (@atletienglish) February 3, 2019Sunday’s reverse saw Alvaro Morata make his Atletico debut after returning to Spain from Chelsea, but the striker only got one of his four chances on target across 90 minutes.Despite the disappointing display, Simeone was happy with his new addition and hopes the goals will come once he settles into life with the Rojiblancos.”Morata came in and worked well, he was very excited to play, we hope he can continue to grow within this team,” he added. It’s a big month for Atletico, who host local rivals Real Madrid next at the Wanda Metropolitano. Los Rojiblancos are five points clear of Real, yet that gap could be cut to just two if Santiago Solari’s men can overcome Deportivo Alaves on Sunday night. After that Simeone’s charges face Rayo Vallecano on February 16th, before a week later playing Villarreal. Sandwiched in between those league games is Atletico’s tasty Champions League clash against Juventus. The pairing is perhaps the tie of the round, with both sides making it to the final of Europe’s elite competition in the past three years. While Juve represent perhaps one of the toughest opponents in Europe, Atletico will be buoyed by the Old Lady’s recent slump in form, and they have failed to win in their last two matches.

ANN ARBOR, MI – SEPTEMBER 22: Adrian Martinez #2 of the Nebraska Cornhuskers throws a first half pass while playing the Michigan Wolverines on September 22, 2018 at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Michigan. (Photo by Gregory Shamus/Getty Images)Following the most embarrassing loss of Scott Frost’s tenure at Nebraska, the Cornhuskers will have to move on and prepare for their next opponent in Purdue. While the Boilermakers are coming off an impressive victory over Boston College, Nebraska’s offense should have their most important playmaker at full strength. Last weekend, it was obvious that Adrian Martinez wasn’t capable of leading the charge against Michigan.Moving over to this weekend, Frost believes a full week of reps will help his versatile quarterback on Saturday.Nebraska football reporter Parker Gabriel revealed Frosts’ comments about Martinez on Twitter.“Continuity there definitely helps, particularly when you’ve got young guys that haven’t played much there. They need those reps and those looks at what they’re going to see.”Frost said Adrian Martinez getting his full allotment of reps this week helps substantially: “Continuity there definitely helps, particularly when you’ve got young guys that haven’t played much there. They need those reps and those looks at what they’re going to see.” #Huskers— Parker Gabriel (@HuskerExtraPG) September 27, 2018Now that Martinez is receiving the majority of snaps at practice, he could be in line for a solid performance. In his first game of the season, Martinez had 187 passing yards and 117 rushing yards. However, last week the dual-threat quarterback only had 22 yards through the air and an interception before getting benched.Nebraska and Purdue will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET, as the game will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network.

India vs South Africa: India tour caused mental scars, saya Faf Du PlessisAfter losing the 3-match series 3-0 as India won the final Test by an inning and 202 runs, South Africa skipper Faf Du Plessis said a tour like this reveals that there’s a lot of mental scars.advertisement Press Trust of India RanchiOctober 22, 2019UPDATED: October 22, 2019 17:14 IST South Africa’s captain Faf du Plessis ( AP Photo)HIGHLIGHTSFaf Du Plessis said they have to find the right people to build the sideSouth Africa could not pose a fight against formidable India, losing all the matches by heavy marginsBlaming Cricket South Africa, the visiting skipper further said the tour exposed the lack of planningHumiliated by a ruthless India, the South African team will go back with ‘mental scars’ as skipper Faf du Plessis rued a lack of vision that impeded phasing out of their great players.South Africa could not pose a fight against formidable India, losing all the matches by heavy margins.”A tour like this reveals that there’s a lot of mental scars that can happen and then obviously it’s difficult to come out of that hole,” Du Plessis said after they conceded their heaviest defeat to India in the third Test.”It’s just a relentless, ruthlessness the way they put big totals on the board every time. The effect it has on you mentally as a batting lineup, it takes a lot of energy and it takes a lot of toll and that’s why you could see towards the end our batting was mentally weak. You don’t want to be mentally weak.”Blaming Cricket South Africa, the visiting skipper further said the tour exposed the lack of planning as they did not think for future after greats like Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers retired.”It shows that our structures are not where they need to be. The gap between domestic cricket and International cricket. If you look back three or four years and if someone had the vision of saying, in three or four years’ time there will be a lot of inexperienced guys. A lot of 34, 35, 36 year olds could possible retire. So what do you do to make sure you get yourself ready for when that time comes?advertisement”And possibly we are guilty of not planning or when these guys going at the same time. And now you’ve got to replace not only one player but four or five of your best players. Perhaps we could’ve been a little bit smarter in our planning phase, and the phasing out of the great players,” he said.Barring their first innings in the opening Test in Vizag, the Proteas never really troubled India in the three-Test series as their batting slumped in every match. At Vizag, Dean Elgar and Quinton de Kock’s century-plus partnership helped them post 431 in reply to India’s 502 for seven declared but in Pune and Ranchi they cut a sorry figure.”We played our best match in the first Test and the consistent pressure that was on us made us weaker every Test match that we played. That therefore tells me that we’re not mentally strong enough as a team and that some work is required on that department.”Having lost their last series in 2015 in spin-friendly conditions, South Africa also got a big jolt as it was the Indian pace battery which came up trumps despite the absence of spearhead Jasprit Bumrah.During the 2015 series, Indian fast bowlers only picked up a total of eight wickets across the four Tests but this time, Umesh Yadav finished the series with 11 wickets with an average of 12.18, while Mohammed Shami took 13 at 14.76 apiece.”They were spot-on. I thought the way the Indian seamers showed us how to bowl. The pace that they bowled, the consistency that they bowled, the skill that they showed, outclassed us as a fast bowling attack. There is learning for us in that when we playing the subcontinent that our style of bowling is not successful.”He further said they badly missed Dale Steyn.Du Plessis said it was a really a tough challenge for him to see through a smooth transition as the team lacks experience.”We’ve had a very mature Test team for a while. All guys who played 30-40 Test matches, and now you look in the dressing room and it’s 5, 6, 7, 8 or 10 Test matches.”Asked about the way forward, Du Plessis said they have to find the right people to build the side.”It’s a rebuilding phase. You have to start identifying characters that will drive the team forward. You look for personalities within a team that you see in 3-4-5-6 years to come. And then the process starts. It’s a tough place to start right at the beginning.”The process will probably take a little bit longer. So for me, our next journey now is trying to make sure that we get a lot stronger as a cricketing team mentally. So if there’s work that needs to be done in that department, then so be it.Also Read | Happy to make teams dance to our tunes: Mohammed Shami after Test heroics vs South AfricaAlso see:For sports news, updates, live scores and cricket fixtures, log on to indiatoday.in/sports. Mezcal Unión Takes a People-First Approach to Making Spirits Everlane Wants You to Have a Daily Uniform to Make Dressing Easier There is nothing like a new, fresh and clean pair of bucs. They traditionally came in just two colors, dusty, often called ‘dirty’, or white. But today, there are so many more colors and styles from which to choose. Nubuck is top-grain cattle leather that has been sanded or buffed on the grain side, or outside, to give a slight nap, producing a velvet-like surface. It is similar to suede. Differing in that suede is created from the inner side of a hide, whereas nubuck is created from the outer side of a hide, giving it more strength and thickness along with a fine grain. It is generally a bit more expensive than suede, but well worth the little extra. There is also nothing like a beat-to-hell pair of bucs. There’s a bunch of Toyotas or Lamborghinis.”Hauber, who honed his mattress experience as an engagement manager at McKinsey & Company, decided to create the Mercedes of mattresses, so he founded Wright Bedding. “The bed is the most important space in your life. You spend a third of your life there. There’s no more personal, more special space — but obviously shopping for your bed is terrible,” said Hauber.Hauber knew that multi-layer, high density memory foam is the best kind of mattress, so he had a prototype created, and gathered two dozen people to test them out while measuring their sleep data for two years. “We could see what was leading to better and more optimum sleep,” he said, before explaining the final product. “The idea is it combines a plush, soft cushy top layer, then increasingly stiffer and firmer base layers, to get that perfect balance. It’s engineered to last forever. We guarantee all our mattresses for 15 years, so The magic of the mattress.”The Wright mattress also has a gel-infused top layer and reinforced corners, as well as a removable cover and a ventilated, fabric shell that you can wash. The twin starts at $1,395 and the the California king goes for $2,195. We tested out the Wright mattresses, and believe us, we know you’ll be able to get a good night’s sleep for years to come. Wright Bedding also makes sheets, down comforters, and down pillows, so you know you’re getting the right fit.For more information, visit wrightbedding.com.
