RNLI brings 15yearold needing urgent medical attention to mainland Cork

first_imgTHE RNLI WAS called to the assistance of a 15-year-old in need of ‘urgent medical attention’ on Cape Clear Island in Cork yesterday evening.The all-weather lifeboat from Baltimore was launched just after 10pm and collected the youth, bringing him to Baltimore and delivering him into the care of the ambulance service.Coxwain Kieran Cotter remarked that “given its speed and seaworthiness, the lifeboat is ideal for use in these emergencies”.Figures from the RNLI have shown a massive increase in callouts over the summer, with lifeboats launched 571 times in the three month period.Read: Warm summer saw RNLI lifeboats launched 571 times>Read: Coastguard and RNLI help teen who became “very unwell” during angling trip>last_img
