Gunfire kills three inside post office
GOLETA – Three people were killed and at least one person was critically wounded Monday when a postal employee opened fire in a postal station in this seaside city that is located adjacent to the University of California, Santa Barbara, authorities reported. The shooting took place about 9:15 p.m., Capt. Keith Cullom of the Santa Barbara County Fire Department told The Associated Press. “The suspect is still not apprehended,” Cullom said shortly after 10 p.m. Sheriff’s spokesman Erik Raney told KCAL-TV (Channel 9) that the shooter was believed to be a postal employee. He said the shooting took place at a station where mail is handled. Two people were taken to a hospital, and Cullom said they were listed in critical condition.
