A Region One (Barima-Waini) teen is currently a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital after he was air-dashed to the city following an accident. The 25-year-old Baramita, North West District man was struck by an unlicensed, drunk teen as he was heading home.Jermin Baird in his hospital bedFrom his hospital bed, Jermin Baird told Guyana Times on Wednesday that he was hanging out with some friends in the wee hours of May 14 having attended a Mother’s Day lime.He added that he left for home about 02:00h, and his intoxicated 16-year-old cousin struck him down with a motorcycle.The young men were both picked up and rushed to a nearby health facility, before being air-dashed from the remote area to the Georgetown Public Hospital.Baird suffered a broken leg and arm. The interior worker said he was the father of two children, with the younger being three years of age.Meanwhile, the teen reportedly sustained several abrasions and other minor injuries. On Sunday, May 13, at least two other accidents occurred.On the Essequibo Coast, a 20-year-old almost lost his life on his way home when he was struck by a vehicle which he does not remember.
